Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of LocoLink, a software application provided by Weto Media, a sole proprietorship registered in the Netherlands (KvK 96618043, VAT NL005221270B02). By installing, activating, or using LocoLink, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the software.

1. License grant

Subject to these Terms and your payment of any applicable fees, Weto Media grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use LocoLink on the number of devices permitted by your tier (see Section 2). This licence does not transfer ownership of any software or intellectual property to you.

2. Tiers, devices and subscriptions

LocoLink is offered in tiers:

  • Free — limited capabilities (max 2 locomotives, 4 turnouts, 2 signals, 2 routes). No expiration. No payment required.
  • LocoLink+ — extended capabilities. Available as monthly subscription, annual subscription, or one-time lifetime purchase.
  • LocoLink Pro — full capability suite including switchboard, block control, automatic driving, timetable. Available as monthly, annual, or lifetime.

Each licence permits activation on a limited number of devices:

  • Single-platform plans (Windows, Android, iOS, or Mac): up to 2 devices.
  • All Devices plans: up to 3 devices, across any supported platform.

You can deactivate a device at any time via the in-app Settings → Account screen, or by emailing support. Deactivating frees up an activation slot.

Subscription auto-renewal

Monthly and annual subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel beforehand. You can cancel at any time via the customer portal of the payment processor through which you purchased (App Store, Polar, or Mollie). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you keep access until then.

Lifetime purchases

Lifetime purchases provide perpetual access to your tier on the supported platforms, including all future feature updates within that tier. "Lifetime" refers to the operational lifetime of LocoLink as a product. We do not anticipate discontinuation, but if LocoLink is sunsetted, lifetime users will be notified at least 12 months in advance.

3. Payment and pricing

Pricing is published on our pricing page. Prices may change at any time, but changes only apply to new purchases — existing subscribers and lifetime holders pay the price agreed at the time of their purchase.

Payment is processed by:

  • Apple App Store — for iOS, iPadOS and macOS purchases. Apple is the merchant of record.
  • Mollie — for all Windows (and future Android) purchases via iDEAL, PayPal, SEPA, Klarna, Bancontact, cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Weto Media is the merchant of record for these transactions, and remits VAT directly to the Belastingdienst.
  • Polar Software, Inc. — historical processor used for earlier Windows / Android purchases. Polar remains the merchant of record for any pre-existing Polar transactions; new purchases go through Mollie.

4. Refunds

Our refund policy is published separately at locolink.io/refund.html and forms part of these Terms. In short:

  • EU consumers have a 14-day statutory right of withdrawal.
  • We voluntarily extend that to a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid purchases, no questions asked.
  • Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime; you retain access until the end of the paid period.
  • Lifetime refunds outside the 30-day window are not generally available, but device-deactivation can be requested.

5. Updates and continued availability

We provide updates including bug fixes, security patches, and feature additions to your tier at no extra cost during your paid period (subscriptions) or for the lifetime of the product (lifetime purchases). Some new features may be reserved for higher tiers and require an upgrade.

LocoLink depends on third-party hardware (digital command stations like Z21, ECoS, Märklin CS3, DCC-EX). If a manufacturer changes their protocol, we'll work to maintain compatibility but cannot guarantee continued support of every legacy device or firmware version indefinitely.

6. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble LocoLink, except as expressly permitted by Dutch law (Article 45m Auteurswet).
  • Share, resell, sublicense, lease, or distribute your license key.
  • Use LocoLink to perform any unlawful activity, or in any way that could harm Weto Media or other users.
  • Circumvent, disable, or attempt to bypass any license-validation or activation-limit mechanism.
  • Use LocoLink to control hardware in commercial or critical applications where failure could cause property damage, personal injury, or significant financial loss. LocoLink is intended for hobbyist model railway use.

7. Intellectual property

LocoLink, its source code, design, branding, and all related materials remain the exclusive property of Weto Media. These Terms do not transfer any intellectual property rights to you.

Configurations you create within LocoLink (track plans, locomotive databases, automation rules, etc.) belong to you. We claim no ownership over your data.

8. Your data

How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy. In short:

  • App data (your projects, locomotives, switchboards) is stored locally on your device.
  • iCloud sync (Apple platforms only) is between your devices via Apple's infrastructure — Weto Media has no access.
  • License-key data and customer email are stored on our backend (Cloudflare KV in Frankfurt) only as needed to deliver the service.
  • You can request export or deletion of your data by emailing info@locolink.io.

9. No warranty

LocoLink is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that LocoLink will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every hardware configuration.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Weto Media's total liability for any claim arising from or related to LocoLink shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or data loss.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Dutch consumer law.

11. Termination

You may terminate your subscription at any time. Lifetime purchases are not subject to termination by you (other than the standard refund window).

We may terminate or suspend your licence if you materially breach these Terms (e.g. circumventing activation limits, distributing your key, or unlawful use). In such cases we will attempt to notify you and give you a reasonable opportunity to cure the breach where possible.

Upon termination: your licence is revoked, you must uninstall LocoLink, but you retain ownership of any data you created.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms occasionally to reflect changes in our practice, the law, or features. Material changes will be notified by email (for active subscribers) or via a prominent notice on locolink.io. Continued use after the effective date of the change constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If that fails, disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the district where Weto Media is registered (currently Amsterdam), unless mandatory consumer-protection law requires otherwise.

EU consumers have access to the European Online Dispute Resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
